Leadership Talks @ Venture Cafe Miami
In partnership with Venture Cafe Miami, the Office has been able to leverage the convening power of Venture Cafe to feature FIU leaders and partners in a variety of fireside chats, roundtables, and community talks. In 2018, the Office hosted a Roundtable on the Future of Work with President Rosenberg; Author Talk on Heroes Wanted with Rodney Bullard; and Author Talk on Confidence Creator with Heather Monahan.

Little Haiti Community Breakfast
Celebrating Maya Angelou's Birthday
Each April the Office of Engagement hosts the Little Haiti Community Breakfast at the Little Haiti Cultural Center. The Office welcomes community leaders for a day of reflection and celebration in honor of Maya Angelou and her birthday.. The breakfast serves as an opportunity to share and celebrate successes, discuss innovations and opportunities for collaboration, and learn about the work FIU is doing in Little Haiti. For the past two years, Maya Angelou's grandson, Elliott Jones, has delivered remarks in celebration of his late grandmother.
SGA Veterans Day Celebration Breakfast
Each November, FIU welcomes community members, veterans, and FIU faculty and students for a celebration of student veterans. Through parternships with the Student Veterans of America, FIU ROTC, FIU Veterans and Military Affairs Office, and the Student Government Association, FIU Engagement is able to celebrate and honor veterans with the community members from throughout South Florida.
