Founded on the principle that a university can enrich its community, we believe that when the community grows, we all grow. To accomplish that goal, the Office of Engagement reaches out to the community. We build connections. We nuture collaborations. We change lives.

The Office of Engagement is leading the completion of the 2020 Carnegie Community Engaged Re-Classification. In preparation for the application and longer term impact, the Office launched the #FutureIsUs Taskforce in Spring 2018, a 40-member internal engagement advisory taskforce meant to outlive the Carnegie Application. The taskforce will evaluate the long-term impact of community engagement and partnerships at FIU. The #FutureIsUs taskforce is co-chaired by Vice President for Engagement Saif Y. Ishoof and Senior Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs Elizabeth Bejar.

#FutureIsUs Social Media Initiative

The #FutureIsUs social media initiative is about bringing visibility to, recognizing, and creating a university-wide culture of being community engaged. It is a collective effort between FIU students, faculty, staff, and external community partners who are joining together to bring visibility to the work FIU is doing in our community and how we are collaborating to address issues that are affecting our globe. The social media initiative is a chance for FIU to highlight members of the FIU family and the work they regularly do in the community.

The #FutureIsUs hashtag can be used on any post that reflects and shows FIU's commitment to our community and reflects the work of our students, faculty, staff, alumni, or administration on a local, national, and international level. This includes FIU research, philanthropy and service projects, and official community involvements.
