Jennifer Grimm
Currently, Jennifer is FIU’s environmental coordinator assisting with the implementation of a thirty-acre restoration project, enhancement of academic curriculum, and development of education and outreach programs.
While earning a degree in Marine Science with an emphasis in biology and a secondary teaching credential for life science from the University of San Diego, Jennifer completed multiple research projects studying changes within the invertebrate population in a local bay. Additionally, she worked for a non-profit developing and teaching marine science curriculum. After completing her degrees Jennifer served in the U.S. Peace Corps in the Philippines. Here she assisted local fishers transfer from illegal harvesting methods to more sustainable fishing techniquejenns. Jennifer also assisted in the establishment of management systems, such as marine protected areas, alternative livelihoods, and education campaigns.
While completing her Masters degree in Marine Affairs and Policy at the University of Miami, Jennifer accepted a position with the City of Miami as the Environmental Outreach Liaison for the Office of Sustainable Initiatives. Jennifer assisted the city in the development of environmental ordinances such as water conservation and environmental procurement. She has also developed and implemented a range of environmental programs and projects including recycling and tree canopy improvement.
