Deanne Butchey, PhD
Having earned a doctoral degree from the Department of Finance and Real Estate at FIU, Dr. Butchey currently teaches and performs research here in behavioral finance, the study of the psychology of financial markets.
She received the Excellence in Teaching Award from FIU in both 2002 and 2007, and won the "2006 Faculty Teaching Excellence Award" from the highly regarded International Society of Business Disciplines (ISOBD). Dr. Butchey is a double recipient of the "Award for Outstanding Service” in both the 2006-‘07 and 2007-‘08 academic years from FIU’s College of Business Administration.
She is also involved in numerous community outreach projects. She has developed a student group initiative in her online Financial Markets and Institutions class which promotes financial literacy among recent immigrants and newcomers to South Florida through various community centers, libraries and religious organizations.
Currently Dr. Butchey leads the College of Business Administration’s efforts in Program and Student Learning Assessment, the enhancement of Teaching and Program Quality, and the Assurance of Learning as Assistant Dean for Accreditation in the College.
